PATRIOT Act/NDAA: No
War on Terror: No, waste of money.
Support Raising Taxes on Rich: No, they got their money someway, they might as well pay the same as the rest of us.
Legalize Marijuana: Yes, criminal rates would go down by much
Legalize All Drugs: Yes, same as above.
Legalize Prostitution: No reason not to, but must be stricter about it, like safe sex prostitution and what not.
Legalize Gambling: Might as well, people can ruin their lives or win all they want.
Right to Bear Arms: Yes
Increased Gun Control: No
Universal Health Care: Yes
Affirmative Action: No, to make everyone equal, everyone should be looked at who they are and what they do, not by their skin color for any reason.
Is Global Warming Man-made: Vaguely
Separation of Church and State: Yes for sure
Support Stem Cell Research: Yes, it could be useful
Same-Sex Marriage: Yes
Polygamy/Group Marriage: Yes
Abortion: Yes, up to a couple's choice, but most likely the woman, as she is the one giving birth.

Increased Gun Control: No

Is Global Warming Man-made: Somewhat
Separation of Church and State: I wouldn't be up for a national religion or a theocracy, that's all I'm gonna say
Support Stem Cell Research: Yes
Same-Sex Marriage: My idea is that states should recognize that two people regardless of sex are in a union for legalities, but that "marriage" should still be a term for man/woman joinings

Party Affiliation: Not American

PATRIOT act/NDAA: No idea what is. Just looked it up, instant vote of non-support
War on Terror: No at the offset, but at this point we've enraged enough people that backing off is a foolish move. We shouldn't have started, but now we've backed ourselves into a corner with our offensive actions.
Support raising taxes on the rich: Yes, unless they give whatever amount to charity per whatever space of time. Some people have savings that they couldn't spent if they tried. Makes sense that it goes to helping someone else.
Legalise drug use (inc. marijuana): Nope. Decriminalise. Been through this conversation with my dad. Better solution. Would also follow up with a smoke/vapour based drug ban in public places similarly to the UK smoking ban. Some of us don't want to get high off of second-hand fumes. I don't mind if those who want to use drugs do, though. Don't force it on the rest of us.
Legalise prostitution: Once someone writes up a decent safety in the workplace act to go alongside it, I don't see why not.
Legalise gambling: It's illegal?
Prepare yourselves... Niflheim's righteous rage is coming.
Right to bear arms: On so many levels, no. The world does not need crazies entitled to killing machines. If you're competent and not going to go postal, then that's fine, but I do not support giving absolutely anyone who wants a gun a gun.
Gun control: same as above. Nif'll say "but they'll still get guns anyway." Yep. Less of them will, though. Stick in a few undercover cops posing as black market salesmen and the number will decrease vastly more.
Universal healthcare: You mean like the NHS? That standard strikes a good balance, I think. Takes some of that bloated funding from the military, too.
Affirmative Action: The official term here is "Positive Discrimination." The appearance of the term "discrimination" at all disturbs me... I would think that so long as bias is removed instead of being reangled, there would be no need for it. With everyone working off of a blank slate, we'd all have the chances even to our work ethic and performance in school. Not that your school system is up to much. You might want to rethink that, instead.
Is Global Warming Man-Made: Irrelevant. It can be man-unmade and that's what's important.
Seperation of Church and state: Yes. Rules on warfare and the death penalty shouldn't be established by those who believe that we respawn again afterwards, or we all wind up in the great postgame lobby in the sky. Rules on morality should be made impartially rather than with a lifetime of outside influence from one particular source.
Support Stem-Cell Research: Yep.
Polygamy/Group Marriage: With the support of all involved parties, why not?
Abortion: Yes for early abortions in all cases and late abortions in severe cases.
Death Penalty: When the lives of others are at risk with the subject's continued existence, or a large number of victims of a severe crime indeed have been amassed.

"I was just being contrary," Takal replied. Realizing what he had just done, he exclaimed in a panic, "Not defiant! Not defiant!"
Ryuujin smiled smugly, feeling content to know that her position as Supreme Mistress of the Canon had intimidated him.

Right to Bear Arms: no.
Increased Gun Control: very much yes.

Separation of Church and State: absolutely. religion still has way too much of a heavy hand in the government.

no particular affiliation but i'm more towards a liberal stance

PATRIOT Act/NDAA: To an extent.
War on Terror: Not at all. Unfortunately we've dug ourselves into a hole and we can't completely cut out now.
Support Raising Taxes on Rich: Yes. A higher percentage hurts the poor far more than the rich.
Legalize Marijuana: Yes. See below.
Legalize All Drugs: Yes. To elaborate on these two, obviously restrictions are going to be needed as not everyone wants drugged individuals roaming the streets but people should be allowed use drugs in secure, private locations such as their own homes. Fighting drugs is just a waste of money.
Legalize Prostitution: Yes. This would majorly improve the quality of life for anyone in the field, and the current stance
Legalize Gambling: Yes.
Right to Bear Arms: Yup.
Increased Gun Control: Tricky issue. If someone wants an assault rifle, they can get one whether or not the law says they can't. A system where all guns are legal would allow us to create a database of all legal gun owners and what they have which could be useful for crime.
Universal Health Care: Yes. Money should not determine your life's worth.
Affirmative Action: yes. racism exists subconsciously, as society beats it into white people. it's not necessarily apparent to those who are not oppressed but it does exist. it's not the absolute best solution (obviously erasing racism is) but in current society it works.
Is Global Warming Man-made: humanity has at least aided it. the issue should be stopping it though, not the source.
Separation of Church and State: yes.
Support Stem Cell Research: yes.
Same-Sex Marriage: of course, this should not be an issue.
Polygamy/Group Marriage: yup.
Abortion: yes in all cases.
Death Penalty: no. all creatures have a right to life and this includes humans, regardless of what they have done. eye for an eye only holds back society.

Since I'm the OP I should probably add my opinion to the pot at well.

Party Affiliation: There's not really any one ideology I seem to agree completely with

PATRIOT Act/NDAA: Completely oppose
War on Terror: Oppose
Support Raising Taxes on Rich: I have no problem with higher earners paying a bit more, but I support low income taxes overall.
Legalize Marijuana: Yes
Legalize All Drugs: Yes
Legalize Prostitution: Yes
Legalize Gambling: Yes
Right to Bear Arms: Yes
Increased Gun Control: Absolutely not
Universal Health Care: I would support a system that would act similar to one of the old "fraternal societies", which would compete with private firms. I would also deregulate the industry a bit and end the artificial scarcity we've set up.
Affirmative Action: Affirmative action is like putting a band-aid on a large wound and going "all fixed!", in addition to being unconstitutional. Instead, improve the education system and offer programs for people of lower incomes, so there's no longer any discriminatory policies based on race or gender.
Is Global Warming Man-made: I believe there's a lot of factors at play for climate change, especially increased volcanism. However, humans are still one of the factors and we do have a role to play in mitigating it.
Separation of Church and State: Absolutely
Support Stem Cell Research: Support, along with other scientific research
Same-Sex Marriage: Support
Polygamy/Group Marriage: Support
Abortion: Support until the third trimester, after which it would be manslaughter
Death Penalty: Support

QUOTE (Hungering Shadow @ Nov 29 2012, 06:32 AM)
Separation of Church and State: "One Nation under God" If you're offended, you don't have to stay. Keep the Church out of Political affairs though.

ok so I'm a couple months late but I just noticed this so

I've got to say this is like the single most ridiculous thing ever said on this website.

like

"under god" wasn't even added to the pledge until the 1950s, during the Cold War and largely as a response to the state atheism of communist nations.

the constitution pretty plainly states that the country is not affiliated with any one single religion.

America is not, nor has it ever been, a Christian nation.

if you're offended by that fact, you don't have to stay.

Party Affiliation:Conservative. Not really a party, but still, you get the point

PATRIOT Act/NDAA:?
War on Terror: I don't think we should have gotten into it in the first place, but we're kind of stuck where we are. Nearly all the middle eastern states hate the crap out of the U.S. already. I do think that it would be wise of the U.S. to pull out, despite my support of the Israelis, because we are wasting countless sums of money each year on the war on terror. We should keep to ourselves, because our Altruism will eventually drive us bankrupt.
Support Raising Taxes on Rich: No. No matter how far you raise taxes, there is not a reasonable way to balance it. Besides, it won't matter how much money the rich have if we keep raising the debt ceiling. To quote Margret Thatcher, "Everybody Else's money only goes so far." If we taxed the rich 100% in the U.S. then it could only support the U.S. for a little less than a week. Besides, most rich persons are philanthropists, and if we make them bankrupt, a lot of organizations that depend upon them will loose sufficient funding.
Legalize Marijuana:Yes and no. I don't agree at all with recreational smoking, but medicinal drugs should be allowed in a small trickle. Also, it must be heavily regulated. No freaking vending machines with Weed stuffed in them like you have in Colorado. Don't even get me started on Colorado!
Legalize All Drugs: See above, also I'd like to note that special smoking areas should be specified. No second hand smoking. You can get COPD if you want to, but I won't join you.
Legalize Prostitution: I can't say yes or no because I don't support prostitution, however legalizing it would make it less likely to have people kidnapped and raped.
Legalize Gambling:I had no clue it was illegal, but I don't honestly care.
Right to Bear Arms:Yes. I believe that they should be fairly regulated, and that severe identity checks should be made. Also, guns have saved far more lives than they have killed. There was an incident, maybe three years ago when a man in England was stabbed to death. He was dead before the Bobby-Who had a gun, mind you-got there. If that man had a gun, it is unlikely that he would have died such a long and painful death. Also, you have to ask the question 'What if that was me'. Also, if you really wanted to stop all killings then you'd have to outlaw things like knives, bats, PVC piping, the list goes on. I believe that Switserland does perfectly on the problem. They have a law that basically says, 'If you own property, you own a gun'. It solves the back round checks, and protection. Finally, I'd also like to mention that the crossbow, the most powerful weapon until the improvement of the gun, was outlawed by the pope in the 13th century. Even though he stuck people in the black market and the lot, the production and selling of crossbow increased. That will probably happen if we outlaw guns.
Increased Gun Control:Yes and no, but also see above. I think that we should have increased back round checks
Universal Health Care:No, see the taxing the rich part. Also, it only helps you if you have a worse(or rather more urgent) disease. If one man has COPD, while another has stage three colon cancer, the COPD person is going to have to wait until the stage three colon cancer person is cancer free, or until that person dies. If that doesn't happen, he's out of luck
Affirmative Action:?
Is Global Warming Man-made:I don't believe in global warming, if the recent cold front isn't proof that there is no such thing as Global warming, I don't know what does. However, don't get me wrong, I think that smog and pollution should be destroyed or stopped. However, I don't think that the supposed consequences of long-term pollution are as severe as the U.N. wants to make us think.
Separation of Church and State:Yes and no. I don't think that they should be part of a branch of the government, or that the pope should have as much power as the president, but I do think that the church should advise the government on spiritual, moral, or religious issues.
Support Stem Cell Research:Yes and no, but mostly no. I don't think that stem cells should be taken from unborn children, but if there is anothe place to get them from that does not harm anyone, than take it from there.
Same-Sex Marriage:As a devout Christian, I believe that same-sex marriage is wrong and that it is a sin. However, that doesn't mean that it is a worse sin than anything else. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. I have sinned just as badly as any gay person, and I need God's forgiveness just as much as anyone else does. Also, just because I think that Same-sex marriage is wrong, doesn't mean that I hate homosexuals. Even though it is a sin, and God does not agree with that, homosexuals were made in God's image too. More so, God loves us even though we have sinned.
Polygamy/Group Marriage:No. See above, and I mean that word for word.
Abortion:Mostly no with one exception. To deal with things like this, you must ask 'What is the unborn'. The answer must either be that they are humans or that they are not humans. However, if they are not human when they are unborn, then when are they humans? I believe that the embryo that we all once were is as much of a human as the persons we are today.
Death Penalty:In cases where the person, if he or she were to escape, might be dangerous further on, then yes. Otherwise, a life in the cooler will fix them for good.
